A Sequential Software Release Policy
نویسنده
چکیده
Abst rac t . Most existing studies on software release policies use models based on the non-homogeneous Poisson process. In this paper, we discuss a software release policy based on a state space model. The state space model has a Gamma-Gamma type invariant conditional distribution. A cost model that removes errors in software systems and risk cost due to software failure is used. The optimal release time to minimize the expected cost in every test-debugging stage is discussed.

Postrelease Testing and Software Release Policy for Enterprise-Level Systems
P rior work on software release policy implicitly assumes that testing stops at the time of software release. In this research, we propose an alternative release policy for custom-built enterprise-level software projects that allows testing to continue for an additional period after the software product is released. Our analytical results show that the software release policy with postrelease t...
متن کاملOptimal Software Release Time with Patching Considered
Optimal software release policy is a well studied topic in the software reliability literature. However, all existing studies implicitly assume that testing stops at the time of release. Due to the advances in data communication technologies, an increasing number of software producers are providing patches for software defect correction and updates subsequent to a version release. Based on this...
متن کاملStatistical Certification of Software Systems
Common software release procedures based on statistical techniques try to optimise the trade-off between further testing costs and costs due to remaining errors. We propose new software release procedures where the aim is to certify that the software does not contain errors. The underlying model is a new discrete-time model similar to the JelinskiMoranda model. The decisions are based on a mix ...
متن کاملInformation Declassification for Multi-Threaded Programs
Information declassification aims for trusted release of secret information to public environment. Existing security specifications and enforcement mechanisms of declassification policies have focused on sequential programs. This paper generalized the specification of gradually delimited release policy for sequential programs to the security condition suited for multi-threaded programs. This se...
متن کاملAn Evaluation of Memory Consistency Modelsfor Shared - Memory Systems with ILP ProcessorsVijay
Relaxed consistency models have been shown to signiicantly outperform sequential consistency for single-issue, statically scheduled processors with blocking reads. However, current microprocessors aggressively exploit instruction-level paral-lelism (ILP) using methods such as multiple issue, dynamic scheduling, and non-blocking reads. Researchers have conjectured that two techniques, hardware-c...
